ABOUT MERIT
Merit Contractors Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT association established in 1992 that is comprised of local open-shop (non-unionized) contractors working together for the good of the industry. We are an industry association that can provide a robust and cost-effective group benefit plan to our members through our affiliation with the national benefit provider - OpenCircle.

We know. We’ve been there. In fact, Merit was born out of the 1982-85 recession that strangled our country. The founding contractors were fighting against pressures that had destroyed the workforce and depressed wages. Their goal was to provide a better standard of living for their employees while improving the standing of our industry. They realized they could only meet those goals by cooperating and banding together.
Today, Merit NL believes that when employers treat their employees like family - with respect and with the benefits they’ve earned - small businesses succeed.
